For your personal linens you can extend their life by adding 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the load to remove detergent buildup, this tip will also help restore your towels to their original fluffy state. Even with proper maintenance towels and sheets do have a life expectancy. It may vary but after 5 years it is time to replace your sheets, 3 years for towels. You can recycle them into rags for household projects. To keep your linen closet organized you should place a folded set of sheets inside a matching pillow case, this way you know where your entire set of sheets are.

• Place doormats both outside and inside your doorways to help keep floors clean and safe.
  Pay special attention to guest rooms and baths, which may not be used frequently and could use a special freshening up. Check that all linens and pillows are fresh, and provide an extra blanket or two. Make sure there is an empty drawer and closet space with hangers.
• Right now, disposable hand towels or reusable napkins are a great idea when you’re using a shared bathroom. They keep germs to a minimum, and you don’t have to worry about freshening the bathroom hand towels so often. Stock up on clearance items now that the holidays have passed.
• Another way to keep older family members from taking the germs your kids picked up at school home with them is to wipe down doorknobs and light switches daily.
• When taking down holiday decorations in your house, make sure they’re nice and clean before storing them for next year’s holiday season.
• Don’t forget the oven! A good self-cleaning will keep it free from past food odors and working optimally.
